Access & Benefit-Sharing
How public lot certificates carry the regulatory hooks required by South African NEMBA bioprospecting law and the international Nagoya Protocol.
BABS permit reference
Every lot certificate on this portal carries a BABS (Bioprospecting / Access and Benefit- Sharing) permit reference, recorded directly on the public payload. The permit is issued under South Africa's National Environmental Management: Biodiversity Act (NEMBA) and is the prerequisite for any commercial activity on the indigenous biological resources contained in the lot.
Recorded contributors, recorded splits
Lot certificates publish the contributor list with role (lot owner / contributor), quantity and basis-points share. The contributor list is hashed into a Merkle root that is exposed on the public page, so any auditor can recompute it from the table itself.
Royalty trail
Royalty accruals tied to a lot are visible to the named contributor at/p/me/[DID]. The accrual is anchored to the same lot certificate, which keeps the share split auditable end-to-end.
Limits
This portal renders the public surface of the regulatory record. It is not a permit registry and does not constitute legal advice. Tenants and their counterparties are responsible for compliance under the relevant domestic law.
